Angelita Vineyard & Winery
Angelita Vineyard and Winery is located in Angus just outside of Corsicana and is "Navarro County’s first and only vineyard and winery." The winery is owned by Beverly and Rodney Spahn. The winery is managed by Beverly while Rodney is the winemaker and vineyard manager.
She believed that your adversities do not define who you are, and that you could overcome and achieve anything you set your mind to. After entering the third grade, she quit school to work in the fields to help support the family and ensure her siblings had enough food to eat. She taught herself to read and write by visiting the library weekly. From a young age, she always had a dream of becoming a nurse.
After marrying my father-in-law, she left her small town in New Mexico and lived in Japan, Spain, Hawaii and in Nebraska prior to settling in with us here in Texas. She was blessed with four children and several grandchildren. With her belief in herself and her determination to make her dream come true, she obtained her GED and entered nursing school. At age 42, her dream was fulfilled and she worked as an ER Nurse several years at a hospital in Nebraska. Similar to the resiliency of the vines, she was an inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her story of the obstacles that she surpassed and her determination is quite inspiring. As a tribute to her, we named the Vineyard after her - Angelita Vineyard. — Beverly Spahn / Owner & Manager

So we did some preparation to the soil and land, and decided to plant 200 Blanc du Bois vines to see how they grew. These vines were planted in the Spring of 2010, the same month my mother-in-law passed away after a battle with cancer. Her name was Angelita, which means "Little Angel" in Spanish. She truly was an Angel.

Customers have given us an excellent five-star rating after visiting with us. See what these folks had to say!
"We stopped by the winery on our way home from Galveston, and we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered the smoked salmon bruschetta and it was excellent. Our favorite wines were the Blanc du Bois Vitners, Inheritance, and the Sweet Rose. Ashlee, the bartender, was friendly and knowledgeable, she did an excellent job of explaining the wines and provided a fun, educational experience. We will definitely stop by again in the future. This Winery is about 5 minutes off I-45 and it is definitely worth the trip".
We took some friends that just returned from overseas, and they Loved it. Wine was good, appetizers were awesome. It is a very unique experience for Corsicana. We had 4 people, 5 glasses of wine each and 3 appetizers for around $70. Definitely try it if you enjoy wine and a quiet relaxing experience.
We received a 4 1/2 star rating.
I've stopped off at Angelita Vineyard & Winery a few times now. I love the hospitality and southern charm when I go back & forth to Houston-Dallas. The wine is grown on site, and is an up and coming "Texas Wine". I suggest the award winning "Blanc du Bois" and popular "Paradiso". Owners Beverly and Rodney Spahn have done a fab job.
Charming little winery in rural TX. Only 2 miles off I-45 between Houston and Dallas. They grow and bottle a Blanc du Bois Reserve that has a great flavor like a Pinot Grigio. The appetizers are delicious. A little piece of civilization and culture for those stuck living in rural Texas.

Angelita SpahnVineyard NamesakeAngelita Vineyard & Winery started by a conversation with my husband and our desire to do something different with our land. "Experts say to do something that you love to do and it won't seem like work." Well, we both love wine and after doing a bit of research, we found that vineyards are expanding in Texas since it is a growing industry, and there was a high demand for wine grapes. We also found that Texas is making some award winning wines.
